PROJECT PRO COLLECTIVE CONSULTANT STANDARDS

Experience Matters. Professionalism Does Too.

Project Pro Collective is a professional ecosystem where experienced project professionals can connect with meaningful opportunities, organizations, and one another. Our Consultant Standards establish the expectations that help us build a trusted, credible, and professional Collective.

These standards apply to project professionals participating in the Project Pro Collective network and may evolve as our marketplace and services grow.

THE STANDARD

Expertise You Can Stand Behind.

Organizations come to Project Pro Collective because they need people capable of helping move important work forward. That means the strength of the Collective depends on the professionals within it. We don’t expect every member to have the same title, certification, industry background, or consulting experience. We do expect professionals to represent their experience accurately, engage with organizations professionally, and pursue work they are genuinely qualified to perform.

The goal isn’t to create the largest possible talent network. It’s to build one organizations can trust.

WHO WE’RE BUILT FOR

Experienced Professionals Who Know How to Move Work Forward.

Project Pro Collective is designed primarily for professionals with meaningful experience leading, managing, implementing, improving, or supporting initiatives.

Titles vary across organizations and industries. Your exact title matters less than the experience and expertise you bring to the work.

NEW TO CONSULTING? YOU’RE STILL WELCOME.

You do not need to already own a consulting business or have years of independent consulting experience to join Project Pro Collective. Experienced professionals who are exploring consulting, fractional, contract, or independent project work are welcome. Project Pro Academy and other resources are being developed in part to help professionals navigate that transition.

WHAT WE EXPECT

The Project Pro Standard

Professionals participating in Project Pro Collective are expected to operate according to five core standards.

  1. Represent Your Experience Honestly

Your profile, resume, proposals, applications, credentials, certifications, work history, portfolio, and other professional information should accurately represent your experience and qualifications. Don’t claim credentials you haven’t earned, responsibilities you haven’t held, results you can’t reasonably support, or expertise you don’t possess.

In Practice: Keep your professional information current and be transparent about the scope of your experience.

  2. Pursue Work You’re Qualified to Perform

Growth often means taking on new challenges, and you don’t need to have done every aspect of an engagement before. However, professionals should use sound judgement when pursuing opportunities and be transparent about where their experience is directly applicable and where they may be developing new capabilities.

In Practice: Stretching is professional. Misrepresenting isn’t.

  3. Communicate Professionally

Organizations should be able to expect timely, respectful, and clear communication from professionals participating in the Collective. If you express interest in an opportunity, respond to reasonable communications. If your availability changes or you are no longer interested, communicate that rather than disappearing from the process.

In Practice: Be responsive. Be clear. Respect other people’s time.

  4. Honor Your Commitments

Project professionals are trusted with work that can affect teams, budgets, timelines, customers, and organizational outcomes. When you accept an engagement, approach your commitments professionally. Communicate risks and challenges early, meet agreed expectations, and raise concerns when circumstances affect your ability to deliver.

In Practice: Professionalism isn’t about pretending everything is going perfectly. It’s about communicating when it isn’t.

  5. Protect Trust

Project professionals may gain access to confidential business information, internal systems, proprietary processes, customer information, project documentation, or other sensitive information. Respect confidentiality requirements, contractual obligations, intellectual property rights, and the trust organizations place in you.

In Practice: Handle client and organizational information with the same care you would expect other to use with your own.

YOUR PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Help Organizations Understand What You Bring.

As Project Pro Collective introduces professional profiles and talent discovery features, professionals will be expected to provide accurate and useful information about their experience.

Profiles may include:

Professional Title - Use a title that reasonably reflects your experience and services.

Professional Summary - Clearly describe the problems you help organizations solve and the work you are equipped to lead.

Professional Summary- Use a title that reasonably reflects your experience and services.

Experience - Represent employers, clients, engagements, responsibilities, and results accurately.

Specialties - Select areas that genuinely reflect your expertise.

Industry Experience - Identify industries where you have meaningful professional experience.

Certifications - List only certifications and credentials you currently hold or are actively seeking and accurately identify their status where relevant.

Availability - Keep availability reasonably current when actively seeking engagements.

Work Preferences - Accurately identify remote, hybrid, on-site, travel, hours, and other relevant preferences.

Business Information - If operating through a consulting business, provide accurate business information when requested.

Project Pro Collective may request updates or clarification when profile information appears incomplete, inconsistent, or potentially misleading.

EXPERIENCE + EXPERTISE

Credentials Matter. So Does What You’ve Done.

Certifications such as the PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, Scrum certifications, change management credentials, and other professional designations can demonstrate knowledge and commitment to the profession. But Project Pro Collective recognizes that strong project professionals are built through a combination of education, experience, judgment, leadership, technical knowledge, industry experience, and results. Unless a particular opportunity requires one, a specific certification is not automatically required to participate in the Collective.

WHEN OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS

Apply With Intention.

A better marketplace depends on organizations posting meaningful opportunities and professionals pursuing opportunities that genuinely interest them.

Understand the Engagement.

Review the scope, requirements, work arrangement, timeline, compensation information, and application instructions before expressing interest.

Apply Thoughtfully.

Highlight the experience most relevant to the organization’s need rather than submitting generic information whenever possible.

Follow Through.

If you enter an interview or selection process, communicate professionally and let the organization know if your interest or availability changes.

Quality connections matter more than application volume.

WHEN YOU’RE ENGAGED

Treat Every Engagement Like Your Reputation Depends on It.

Because it does. Independent project work is built on trust, results, relationships, and reputation. Every engagement has the potential to lead to repeat work, referrals, partnerships, or future opportunities.

Clarify Expectations

Confirm scope, deliverables, responsibilities, timelines, communication expectations, and decision-making authority.

Communicate Early

Surface risks, issues, dependencies, and changes before they become surprises.

Respect the Org

Work professionally with employees, leaders, vendors, partners, and other consultants.

Deliver with Integrity

Focus on the outcomes you’ve agreed to support and be transparent when circumstances require a change in approach.

KNOW YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Independent Work Comes With Independent Responsibilities.

Depending on the engagement, project professionals may be responsible for managing their own business, tax, insurance, licensing, contracting, invoicing, and other professional obligations. Requirements will vary by opportunity and jurisdiction. Professionals are responsible for understanding and meeting the requirements applicable to their own business and engagements.

Project Pro Collective may provide educational resources on consulting and business topics, but those resources do not constitute legal, tax, accounting, financial, or other regulated professional advice.

PROTECTING THE COLLECTIVE

Some Things Don’t Belong Here.

Project Pro Collective may restrict or remove professionals who engage in conduct inconsistent with the standards of the community.

  • False or Misleading Information

Misrepresenting credentials, experience, qualifications, business information, availability, or professional history.

  • Fraudulent Activity

Using Project Pro Collective to facilitate fraud, scams, identify theft, financial schemes, or other deceptive activity.

  • Harassment or Discrimination

Harassing, threatening, discriminatory, abusive, or otherwise inappropriate behavior toward organizations, professionals, staff, or community members.

Using access to the Collective primarily to mass solicit, spam, recruit into unrelated programs, or sell unrelated products or services.

  • Confidentiality Violations

Improperly sharing confidential, proprietary, personal, or sensitive information obtained through an engagement or the Collective.

  • Circumventing Platform Requirements

Intentionally attempting to evade applicable marketplace rules, fees, agreements, or processes when those requirements apply.

BUILDING TOWARD GREATER TRUST

Verification Will Grow With the Collective.

As Project Pro Collective develops, we may introduce processes for verifying certain professional information, such as identity, certifications, business information, experience, or other qualifications. Verification of specific information does not constitute an endorsement, guarantee of performance, or guarantee that a professional is appropriate for a particular engagement.

Details about future verification programs, including ‘Project Pro Verified’ designation, will be communicated before they are introduced.

MAINTAINING PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS

Protecting the Quality of the Collective.

Project Pro Collective reserves the right to review conduct or information that may be inconsistent with these standards, our Terms of Use, or applicable law. Depending on the circumstances, we may request clarification or corrections, limit access to certain features, remove content or profiles, suspend participation, or discontinue access to Project Pro Collective. Standards and enforcement processes may evolve as the platform and community grow.
